The one who is fasting a voluntary fast and he ate and drank forgetfully.
Shaykh Mashhoor bin Hasan Aal-Salmaan Question: The one who is fasting a voluntary fast : and he ate and drank forgetfully . What is upon him ? Answer: Some fuqahaa (jurists) - like those on the school of opinion of Imaam Maalik (rahimahullaah) - differentiate between the fardh (obligatory) and the (naafil) voluntary fast. But what is correct among the scholars is that ; there is no difference (in the rulings) of the obligatory and voluntary fast. The Prophet ( sallaAllaahu 'alayhi wasallam ) says : " Whoever forgets while fasting and eats or drinks : he should complete his fast, for it is Allaah who has fed him and given him drink." [1] And he ( sallaAllaahu 'alayhi wasallam ) did not (specify) and say "while fasting the obligatory fast." So whoever eats or drinks forgetfully - while in the obligatory or voluntary fast - then he completes his fast : for it is Allaah who has fed him and given him drink.
