Q 9 : Is it permissible to give charity to Non-Muslims ?

Sheikh Ibn Jibreen answered :

It is not permissible to give Zakat to disbelievers, and it is disliked to give voluntary charity to them, since it is a way of helping them while they disbelieve .

Allah the Exalted said :

( Don't help each other in sin and transgression ) - surat al-Ma'ida 2 -

However if it is hoped that he might become a Muslim, there is no harm in giving him charity also, in order to encourage him to enter Islam . Moreover, if the non-Muslim is facing death, it is permissible to save him, so he can see the virtues of Islam .
