Imaam al-muhaddith Muhammad Naasiruddeen al-Albanee(rahimahullaah)

Question :

Our Shaykh , what is the difference between (replying to the greetings with) : Wa 'alaykum salaam and/or 'alaykum salaam ?

Answer :

There is no difference between them.

All of them are permissible.

But it appears that the best one is : the one with (the letter) 'waw' i.e. Wa 'alaykum salaam.
