Where else to begin but familiarising ourselves with our final abode and the journey we must endure to gain entry into it - may Allah in His mercy make it eternity in gardens beneath which rivers flow

Narrated Abu Huraira that Allah's Messenger (peace be upon Him)said

When Allah created Paradise, He ordered Jibrael: Go and see it. So he went and saw it. Then he returned and said: O Lord, By Your glory! who hears of it would love entering it. Then He encompassed it with unpleasant things (hardships of worship and said: O Jibrael! Go (again) and see it. So he went away to look at it. Then he came back and said: O Lord, By Your glory! I fear that no one will enter it. The Prophet (peace be upon Him)said: When Allah created Hell, He said: O Jibrael, go and see it. So he went and saw it. Then he turned up and said: O Lord, By Your glory! No one who hears of it will enter it. So he encompassed it with lusts (worldy desires) and said : O Jibrael! Go back and see it. He went again to see it and came back saying: O Lord, By Your glory! I fear that no one will escape from entering it

( This Hadith is fair and reported by ( Abu Da'ud, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i, Ahmad

Waiyyaki my dear
May Allah reward you too for your efforts - perhaps it became lost amongst the many beneficial posts in Arabic
Bi ithn illah we will revive it and keep it alive - and it won't become lost in the midst of the other posts as it has been fixed as a permanent post
And yes- sorry about the ambiguity, fair does mean hasan, the text I extracted the hadith from preferred use of the word fair

The True Worth Of This World

Narrated Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said

One of the most miserable people in the world will be brought from among the people of Paradise. Allah will say (to the angels): Dip him once in Paradise. So they will dip him once in it. Then Allah will ask him: Did you ever face any distress or a thing you hate. He would say: No, by Your Glory! Never did I face anything unpleasant. Then one of the most affluent people of the world will be brought from Hell. Allah will command (the angels:) Dip him once in it. Then He will ask him: O son of Adam! Did you ever enjoy any comfort? (that is, a dip in Hell can make one forget the meaning of comfort).

This Hadith is sound and reported in Musnad Ahmad

ATTRIBUTES OF THE PEOPLE OF PARADISE

Allah has told us that the people of paradise will be brought near to it and they will have four qualities

They are sincere in repentance
Ubaid Ibn Umair said : The repentant is the one who
remembers his sins and asks for forgiveness for them
Said Ibn Al Musayib said : He is the one who commits sins, repents, commits again and repents again

They preserve their covenant with Allah
Ibn Abbas said : Whatever Allah orders him to do, he does it
Qatadah said : It is he who preserves the rights and blessings granted to him by Allah

The soul has two special abilities : the power to ask and the power to preserve. The repentant person uses the power of asking to ask for forgiveness from Allah, to return to him and seek his pleasure and obey Him. The power of preserving is keeping away from all that leads to sin

The repentant person comes nearer to Allah by obeying Him

Fearing Allah In This Life Before Seeing & Meeting Him
Who feared the most beneficent (Allah) in the unseen

من خشي الرحمن بالغيب
(Qaf 50:33)

Having A Heart Turned In Repentance
And brought a heart turned in repentance

وجاء بقلب منيب
(Qaf 50:33)

A heart absolutely free from any kind of polytheism
Ibn Abbas said : He is far from sins and rushes to obey Allah. The reality of repentance is to devote the heart to obedience, love and striving to be near to Allah

Angels come to you in shifts by night and by day. They meet at salaat al-fajr and salaat al-‘asr, then those who had stayed with you at night ascend, and are asked by the One Who knows better than they: ‘How did you find My servants?’ They say, We left them when they were praying, and we came to them when they were praying

Huge reward

The Prophet (salAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:

"Whoever follows the funeral and offers the funeral prayer for it, will get a reward equal to one Qeerat, and whoever attends it till burial, will get a reward equal to two Qeerats."

It was asked: 'What are two Qeerats?' He (salAllaahu alayhi wasallam) replied:

"It is equal to two huge mountains."

Patience and modesty

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله
Well i don't come from an english-speaking background but i will do my best إن شاء الله.
sisters from all over the world be patient and modest , don't you see that those who are modest accept truth easily and show patience while following their belief ; if they are scolded they don't act rebellious instead they scold them self to polish their souls, well it's easier to be mad and overreact at that momment but here comes patience wich gives you power and control over yourself and keeps your mind clear and balanced letting you see your mistakes and making you admit full heartedly that your are wrong thus peacefully apologizing and making up for your doing , what a a feeling i swear stepping on your selfishness ; Feel that inferiority before Islam the religon of truth
feel modesty accept it and patience patience while following it

May Allah have mercy apon us

The Kursī of Allāh – And Shaykh al - Albānī comments

The Kursī of Allāh

source: silsilat ul-ahādīth us-sahīha ~ the series of authentic narrations ~ hadīth no. 109

Abu Dharr al-Ghifārī said that the Messenger of Allāh said: “The seven heavens in comparison to the Kursī is nothing but like a ring thrown in a desert, and the excellence of the ʽArsh (Throne of Allāh) over the Kursī is like the excellence of that desert over that ring.”

Shaykh al-Albānī comments

“The hadīth comes forth as an explanation of (Allāh’s) statement, the Most High: ‘His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth,’[1] and it is clear with regard to the existence of the Kursī being the greatest of creations after the Throne (of Allāh), and that it is an independent, physical entity and not something abstract. Therefore, there is a refutation in (this hadīth) against the one who interprets (the Kursī) to mean ‘dominion’ and ‘extent of rule,’ as mentioned in some explanations of the Qur’ān. And it was not narrated from Ibn Abbās that (the Kursī) is ‘knowledge,’ so it is not correct to attribute it to him because it is from the narration of Jaʽfar bin Abi l-Mughīra from Saʽīd bin Jubayr from (Ibn ʽAbbās). Ibn Jarīr reported it. Ibn Mandah said: ‘Ibn Abi l-Mughīra is not strong with regard to (narrating from) Ibn Jubayr.’
And know that it is not correct to describe the Kursī…as in some narrations that…four angels carry it, each angel having four faces, and their feet are upon the rock that is under the seventh earth, etc. So all of this is not correct in being attributed to the Prophet and some of (these narrations) are more severe in weakness than others.”

Translator’s Note: Shaykh Al-Albānī after this however, did grade the following narration as authentic:
Abu Mūsā al-Ashʽarī said: “The Kursī is the place of the two Feet and it has a groaning like that of a camel saddle.” [2]

The woman’s āmīn, adhān and iqāmah

The woman’s āmīn, adhān and iqāmah

source: silsilat ul-hudā wa nnūr ~ the series of guidance and light ~ tape no. 697

Question #3: “Does the woman raise her voice with saying the āmīn, and does she also give the adhān and the iqāmah (for prayer)?”

Shaykh al-Albānī answers:

“As for, is it correct for the woman to raise her voice with āmīn, then there is a detailed explanation with regard to the question. If she is praying with women, then yes. As for if she is praying with men who are strangers (i.e., non-mahram), then no. Because I do not say that the voice of a woman is ʽawrah[1], as many say, because the mothers of the believers and the wives of the early Companions used to speak with men and used to communicate with men; and oftentimes the woman used to come to the Prophet and ask him (a question) in front of the men, then he would answer her question.
But (here), it is not part of the good manners of a woman that she raises her voice with the recitation of the Qur’ān. We are often asked – is it permissible for the woman, when she is learning the recitation from the shaykh who is a reciter, to repeat the recitation to him in order for him to correct her – the answer is no. Although she learns, her learning is restricted to listening only, as learned the women of all the Companions from the Messenger of Allaah by listening to his recitation during prayer or outside of prayer.

If the woman prays with women while she is an imām, she raises her voice and the women behind her also raise their voices. That is due to (the Prophet’s) saying: ‘Women are nothing but the twin halves of men,’[2] i.e., every ruling that came in which the men are being addressed, then the women are also included in this address, except what is made an exception. For example, and I ask for (your) attention, it is more excellent for a woman, in other than the tarāwīh prayer, to pray in her house; but on the other hand, it is obligatory upon the man to pray the five prayers in the masjid with the congregation. So here, the woman is different from the man. But the fundamental principle is as (the Prophet) said: ‘Women are nothing but the twin halves of men.’

So if the woman leads women in prayer as an imām, she does just as the man does as an imām. Firstly, she raises her voice with the recitation (of the Qur’ān) and with āmīn, and (the women) also raise their voices from behind her with āmīn. Secondly, not only does the woman lead women in prayer as an imām, but she also gives the adhān and the iqāmah. Why? Because of the previous hadīth: ‘Women are nothing but the twin halves of men.’ Furthermore, asayyida ʽĀisha, the mother of the believers, and the leader of the mothers of the believers in terms of fiqh[3], knowledge and daʽwah, may Allāh bless her and her father, used to give the adhān and the iqāmah when she led women in prayer as an imām.

And here there is an admonition which there is no question about – the woman here differs as well from the man, as she does not step up before the row of the women, but rather she stands in the middle as if she is someone from the row. She does not step up before them (to lead as the man does); there has come a text regarding this also. Therefore, in this circumstance, the woman is not included in the generality of (the Prophet’s) saying : ‘Women are nothing but the twin halves of men.’”

Islam beyond Makkah

The Third Phase Calling unto Islam beyond Makkah

Islam being introduced to Arabian Tribes and Individuals

Hope inspiring Breezes from the Madinese

Marriage of the Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg to ‘Aishah - may Allah be pleased with her -

In Shawwal (in the last of May or in the beginning of June 619 A.D.), ten years after receiving his mission from his Lord, the Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg set out towards At-Ta’if, about 60 kilometres from Makkah, in the company of his freed slave Zaid bin Haritha inviting people to Islam. But contrary to his expectations, the general atmosphere was terribly hostile. He approached the family of ‘Umair, who were reckoned amongst the nobility of the town. But, to his disappointment, all of them turned deaf ear to his message and used abusive language as regards the noble cause he had been striving for. Three brothers from the chieftains of Thaqeef —‘Abd Yaleel, Mas‘ud and Habeeb — sons of ‘Amr bin ‘Umair Ath-Thaqafy met the Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg , who invited them to embrace Islam and worship Allâh, but they impudently jeered at him and refused his invitation. "He is tearing the cloths of Al-Ka‘bah; is it true that Allâh has sent you as a Messenger?" said one of them. "Has not Allâh found someone else to entrust him with His Message?" said the second. "I swear by Allâh that I will never have any contact with you. If you are really the Messenger of Allâh, then you are too serious to retort back; and if you are belying Allâh, then I feel it is imperative not to speak to." said the third. The Messenger of Allâh http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg , finding that they were hopeless cases, stood up and left them saying: "Should you indulge in these practices of yours, never divulge them to me."

For ten days he stayed there delivering his message to several people, one after another, but all to no purpose. Stirred up to hasten the departure of the unwelcome visitor, the people hooted him through the alley-ways, pelted him with stones and obliged him to flee from the city pursued by a relentless rabble. Blood flowed down both his legs; and Zaid, endeavouring to shield him, was wounded in the head. The mob did not desist until they had chased him two or three miles across the sandy plains to the foot of the surrounding hills. There, wearied and exhausted, he took refuge in one of the numerous orchards, and rested against the wall of a vineyard. At a time when the whole world seemed to have turned against him, Muhammad http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpgturned to his Lord and betook himself to prayer and the following touching words are still preserved as those through which his oppressed soul gave vent to its distress. He was weary and wounded but confident of the help of his Lord:

· "O Allâh! To You alone I make complaint of my helplessness, the paucity of my resources and my insignificance before mankind. You are the most Merciful of the mercifuls. You are the Lord of the helpless and the weak, O Lord of mine! Into whose hands would You abandon me: into the hands of an unsympathetic distant relative who would sullenly frown at me, or to the enemy who has been given control over my affairs? But if Your wrath does not fall on me, there is nothing for me to worry about."

"I seek protection in the light of Your Countenance, which illuminates the heavens and dispels darkness, and which controls all affairs in this world as well as in the Hereafter. May it never be that I should incur Your wrath, or that You should be wrathful to me. And there is no power nor resource, but Yours alone."

Seeing him in this helpless situation, Rabi‘a’s two sons, wealthy Makkans, were moved on grounds of kinship and compassion, and sent to him one of their Christian servants with a tray of grapes. The Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg accepted the fruit with pious invocation: "In the Name of the Allâh." The Christian servant ‘Addas was greatly impressed by these words and said: "These are words which people in this land do not generally use." The Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg inquired of him whence he came and what religion he professed. ‘Addas replied: "I am a Christian by faith and come from Nineveh." The Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg then said: "You belong to the city of the righteous Jonah, son of Matta." ‘Addas asked him anxiously if he knew anything about Jonah. The Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg significantly remarked: "He is my brother. He was a Prophet and so am I." Thereupon ‘Addas paid homage to Muhammad http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpgand kissed his hands. His masters admonished him at this act but he replied: "None on the earth is better than he is. He has revealed to me a truth which only a Prophet can do." They again reprimanded him and said: "We forewarn you against the consequences of abandoning the faith of your forefathers. The religion which you profess is far better than the one you feel inclined to."

Heart-broken and depressed, Muhammad http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpgset out on the way back to Makkah. When he reached Qarn Al-Manazil, Allâh, the Almighty sent him Gabriel together with the angel of mountains. The latter asked the Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg for permission to bury Makkah between Al–Akhshabain —Abu Qubais and Qu‘ayqa‘an mountains. Full narration of this event was given by ‘Aishah - may Allah be pleased with her - (the Prophet’s spouse). She said: "I asked the Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg if he had ever experienced a worse day than Uhud. He answered that he had suffered a lot from those people (the idolaters) but the most painful was on the day of ‘Aqabah. I went seeking support from Ibn ‘Abd Yalil bin ‘Abd Kalal, but he spurned me. I set out wearied and grieved heedless of anything around me until I suddenly realized I was in Qarn Ath-Tha‘alib, called Qarn Al-Manazil. There, I looked up and saw a cloud casting its shade on me, and Gabriel addressing me: Allâh has heard your people’s words and sent you the angel of mountains to your aid. The latter called and gave me his greetings and asked for my permission to bury Makkah between Al-Akhshabain, the two mountains flanking Makkah. I said in reply that I would rather have someone from their loins who will worship Allâh, the All–Mighty with no associate." A concise meaningful answer fully indicative of the Prophet’s matchless character and the fathomless magnanimous manners.

The Messenger of Allâh http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg then came back to wakefulness and his heart was set at rest in the light of that invisible Divinely provided aid. He proceeded to Wadi Nakhlah where he stayed for a few days.

During his stay there, Allâh sent him a company of jinns who listened to him reciting the Noble Qur’ân:

· "And (remember) when We sent towards you (Muhammad http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg) Nafran (three to ten persons) of the jinns, (quietly) listening to the Qur’ân, when they stood in the presence thereof, they said: ‘Listen in silence!’ And when it was finished, they returned to their people, as warners. They said: ‘O our people! Verily! We have heard a Book (this Qur’ân) sent down after Moses, confirming what came before it, it guides to the Truth and to a Straight Path (i.e. Islam). O our people! Respond (with obedience) to Allâh’s Caller (i.e. Allâh’s Messenger Muhammad http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg), and believe in him (i.e. believe in that which Muhammad http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpghas brought from Allâh and follow him). He (Allâh) will forgive you of your sins, and will save you from a painful torment (i.e. Hell-fire).’" [46:29-31]

The same incident is referred to in Sûrah Al-Jinn:

· "Say (O Muhammad http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg): "It has been revealed to me that a group (from three to ten in number) of jinns listened (to this Qur’ân). They said: ‘Verily! We have heard a wonderful Recital (this Qur’ân)! It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allâh).’" [72:1,2] … Till the end of the 15th verse.

From the context of these verses and their relevant interpretation, we can safely establish it that the Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg was not aware of the presence of that group of jinns. It was only when Allâh revealed those verses that he came to know of it. The verses also confirm that it was the first time they came. However, the context of the different versions suggests that the jinns repeated their visits later on. The presence of that company of jinns comes in the context of the Divine support given to His Messenger, and constitutes a propitious sign of ultimate victory and success for the Call of Islam. It provides an unshakable proof that no power however mighty could alter what is wrought by Allâh:

· "And whosoever does not respond to Allâh’s Caller, he cannot escape on earth, and there will be no Auliyâ (protectors) from him besides Allâh (from Allâh’s punishment). Those are in manifest error." [46:32]

"And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allâ h in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight." [72:12]

Given this support and auspicious start, depression, dismay and sadness that used to beset him since he was driven out of At-Ta’if, he turned his face towards Makkah with fresh determination to resume his earlier plan to expose people to Islam and communicate his Message in a great spirit of zeal and matchless enthusiasm.

Zaid bin Harithah, his companion, addressing the Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg said, "How dare you step into Makkah after they (Quraish) have expatriated you?" The Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg answered: "Hearken Zaid, Allâh will surely provide relief and He will verily support His religion and Prophet."

When he was a short distance from Makkah, he retired to Hira’ Cave. Whence he despatched a man from Khuza‘ah tribe to Al-Akhnas bin Shuraiq seeking his protection. The latter answered that he was Quraish’s ally and in no position to offer protection. He despatched the messenger to Suhail bin ‘Amr, but to no avail, either. Al-Mut‘im bin ‘Adi, a notable in Makkah, however, volunteered to respond to the Prophet’s appeal for shelter. He asked his people to prepare themselves fully armed and then asked Muhammad http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpgto enter into the town and directly into the Holy Sanctuary. The Prophet http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg observed a two-Rak‘a prayer and left for his house guarded by the heavily-armed vigilant ‘Adi’s.

It has been reported that later Abu Jahl, the archenemy of Islam, asked Mut‘im if his behaviour suggested protection or conversion, the latter replied it was merely protection. Abu Jahl was relieved and said that he would give Muhammad protection for his sake.

The Messenger of Allâh http://www.4muhammed.com/Raheeq_Al-M.../pics/pbuh.jpg never forgot Mut‘im’s favour. At the conclusion of the battle of Badr, he declared publicly that if Mut‘im had been still alive and asked for the release of the Quraishite captives, he would not deny him his request.

For you, Muhammad peace be upon him Netwo

How to Seek Laylatul-Qadr

كيف نتحرى ليلة القدر ؟

How to Seek Laylatul-Qadr

Author: Shaykh Muhammad Nasir-ud-Deen al-Albani

Adapted from "The Night Prayers: Qiyam & Tarawih from works by Muhammad Nasir ud-Deen al-Albani (and other scholars)"
Compiled by Muhammad al-Jibali, © 1997 QSS

Laylat ul-Qadr is the most blessed night. A person who misses it has indeed missed a great amount of good. If a believing person is zealous to obey his Lord and increase the good deeds in his record, he should strive to encounter this night and to pass it in worship and obedience. If this is facilitated for him, all of his previous sins will be forgiven.

Praying Qiyaam

It is recommended to make a long Qiyaam prayer during the nights on which Laylat ul-Qadr could fall. This is indicated in many hadeeths, such as the following:

Abu Tharr (radhiallahu `anhu) relates:“We fasted with Allah's Messenger (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) in Ramadaan. He did not lead us (in qiyaam) at all until there were seven (nights of Ramadaan) left. Then he stood with us (that night - in prayer) until one third of the night had passed. He did not pray with us on the sixth. On the fifth night, he prayed with us until half of the night had passed. So we said, 'Allah's Messenger! Wouldn't you pray with us the whole night?' He replied: 'Whoever stands in prayer with the imaam until he (the imaam) concludes the prayer, it is recorded for him that he prayed the whole night.'…" [Recorded by Ibn Abi Shaybah, Abu Dawud, at-Tirmithi (who authenticated it), an-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, and their isnad is authentic]

man to pray with the people or by himself during Ramadan?' He replied, 'Pray with the people' I also heard him say, 'I would prefer for one to pray (qiyaam) with the imaam and to pray witr with him as well, for the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: "When a man prays with the imaam until he concludes, it is recorded that he prayed the rest of that night." [Masaa'il]]

Abu Hurayrah (radhiallahu `anhu) narrated that the Messenger (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: "Whoever stands (in qiyaam) in Laylat ul-Qadr [and it is facilitated for him] out of faith and expectation (of Allah's reward), will have all of his previous sins forgiven." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim; the addition "and it is facilitated for him" is recorded by Ahmad from the report of `Ubaadah Bin as-Samit; it means that he is permitted to be among the sincere worshippers during that blessed night.

«من قام ليلة القدر [ ثم وفقت له ] , إيمانا واحتسابا, غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه» رواه (البخاري ومسلم والإمام أحمد) والزيادة له.

Making Supplications

It is also recommended to make extensive supplication on this night. `A'ishah (radhiallahu `anha) reported that she asked Allah's Messenger (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam), "O Messenger of Allah! If I knew which night is Laylat ul-Qadr, what should I say during it?" And he instructed her to say: “Allahumma innaka `afuwwun tuh.ibbul `afwa fa`fu `annee - O Allah! You are forgiving, and you love forgiveness. So forgive me.” [Recorded by Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and at-Tirmizi. Verified to be authentic by Al-Albani

Abandoning Worldly Pleasures for the Sake of Worship

It is further recommended to spend more time in worship during the nights on which Laylat ul-Qadr is likely to be. This calls for abandoning many worldly pleasures in order to secure the time and thoughts solely for worshipping Allah. `A'ishah (radhiallahu `anha) reported: “When the (last) ten started, the Prophet (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) would tighten his izaar (i.e. he stayed away from his wives in order to have more time for worship), spend the whole night awake (in prayer), and wake up his family.” "Al-Bukhari and Muslim

(كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا دخل العشر شد مئزره، وأحيا ليله، وأيقظ أهله) رواه (البخاري ومسلم)

And she said: “Allah's Messenger (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) used
to exert more (in worship) on the last ten than on other nights.” Muslim

(كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يجتهد في العشر الأواخر، ما لا يجتهد في غيره) رواه (مسلم).

Second wife منقول للعبرة

Second wife! The words reverberated through my brain. Why? Am I not good enough? Never! I will never accept a second wife! If you want a second wife you can go out and get one as long as you know that I will not be here when you come back! Those were my words to my husband a few years ago when he mentioned to me that he is intending to marry again a second time. It was a woman recently divorced, 4 children. She is having a hard time, he said, she don't know where the next meal is coming from or how to provide adequately for her children. "Where is their father?" I asked, "Can't he take care of his own kids? Why do you a strange man have to carry another man's burden? Surely there are other ways that you can help her out financially without having to MARRY her! I could not imagine myself in a plural marriage. Sharing my husband with another woman. Sharing his love, his smiles, his jokes with a woman other than myself. I could not fathom him holding her close and whispering loving words in her ears. It was unacceptable. An outrage. After all I have been to him. Wife, lover, mother, doctor, housekeeper. I raised 3 of his beautiful children. How can he insult me by marrying another woman as if I am not good enough. Not pretty enough. Not young enough or just plain not ENOUGH!NO! I could not accept that and I vehemently made my stance clear to him. If she walks in, I walk out! Plain and simple. If he is willing to risk our marriage, our life, our children for another woman, then he must go ahead. I will not stand for it! It all seems so many years ago now. When I thought that life would last forever and that nothing will ever change. But it did..My husband did not get married to a second wife. After all my warnings and threats of leaving he abandoned the idea. I don't know what happened to the women and children. My guess is that they moved on to another town. He never mentioned a second wife again and I was happy with that. I managed to hang on to my husband but I didn't know that our time was running out. His last words to me were that he had a headache and is going to lie down till Esha. He never read Esha namaaz that night, because he never woke up. I was devastated by his sudden death. The man whom I have spent my life with, snatched away from me in a second. I mourned him for a long, long time. Neglecting my children and the business. Soon all went to waste and we started losing everything one by one. First the car then the shop, then the house. We moved in with my brother and his family. My 3 children and I crowded the house and my sister in law soon became annoyed by our presence. I needed to get out, to work and find a place of our own instead of living off the leftovers of others. But I had no skill. When my husband was alive we lived comfortably. I had no need to go out and work or or equip myself with a skill. Life was very difficult for me and my children and I wasn't young anymore. I missed him everyday with every beat of my heart. How could ones condition change so drastically? One day my brother told me that someone he knew is looking for a wife. He was a good person, good akhlaq and very pious. Perfect for me, but he wants me to be his second wife. It's the second time in my life that the word second wife was mentioned to me. But how different the circumstances. He came to my brothers house to see me. There was an immediate connection between us. I liked him and I liked everything about him. He told me that his first wife knows that he is intending to marry again but that she is obviously not supportive of the idea and that he doesn't know what her reaction will be when he tells her that he had found someone. His answer he said, will be dependent on her acceptance of Polygamy.I started reading Istikhara that night. I so desperately wanted it to work out. I remembered so many years ago when the life of another woman depended on my decision and what my decision was. I felt contrite, I felt that because I did not give another woman a chance, a space in my life, that Allah will punish me this time around. I repented, not once in my life did I think my action worthy of repentance because I had done nothing wrong. I only protected what was mine. Now that I am on the receiving end, I realized how wrong I was in denying another woman this PRIVILEGE of a husband. I prayed that she will accept me. He phoned me a few days later telling me that his wife is having a hard time accepting it but that she is willing to meet me.I was nervous the day of the meeting. I prayed a lot the day before and asked Allah to help me. When I met her, she was a person, a woman like me . A woman who loves her husband and fears losing him. She took my hand and with tears in her eyes said: " This is very hard for me, but I hope that we can be sisters" her words broke my heart. All I needed in these dark days was a hand reaching out to me and embracing me, giving me hope and the will to carry on. His wife was to me, the woman that I could not be and I will be forever grateful for that. I thought that no one could love her husband the way I loved mine, but she taught me the true meaning of unconditional love.
Not my story . Though as a young girl it rings a bell , back when we were little. My mum had four of us and she toiled tooth and nail to raise us, money is not everything but we needed the father figure and she needed a man in her life, but how many single men were willing to marry a young woman in her 20s with all those kids? Barely non. The time she accepted marriage she had to give 3 of us away to relatives and to her their was nothing as painful as this. I can only ypray more muslim men would step up. It is not always about the money , it is deeper than that , raising an Islamic unit
